Age 76, of Owosso, passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 3rd at St. Paul Catholic Church with Father John Fain officiating. Visitation will be at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Thursday from 2 - 8 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m. John was born on June 1, 1934 in Owosso, Michigan, the son of John and Ann (Klco) Yanik, Sr. He graduated from St. Paul High School with the class of 1952. He then completed three years at the General Motors Institute in Flint. John spent 12 years working at Midland Ross. He then worked in industrial sales with National Welding Supply of Flint, retiring in 1999 after 23 years of service. On October 8, 1955 he married Betty Porter at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Owosso. He loved being outdoors hunting and fishing. John was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus and the Shiawassee Conservation Club. He was also a member of the American Welding Society and the National Rifle Association. John was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church after many years at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He served as a trustee on the Owosso Township Board. Survivors include his wife of almost fifty-five years, Betty; 3 daughters, Deborah (Robert) Gibson of Pentwater, Dawn Chrenka of St. Johns, and Dee Dee (Rob) Bendall of Owosso; seven grandchildren, Marc (Cindi) Gregory, William (Tanya) Gibson, John (Becky) Chrenka, James (Kari) Chrenka, Jessica (Chris) Simpson, Hannah and Joshua Bendall; seven great-grandchildren, Alec Gregory, Mariah Gregory, Johnny Chrenka, Jacob Chrenka, Jaxon Chrenka, Dayton Gibson and Dustin Gibson; brothers, David (Nancy) Yanik of Port Huron and Roy (Sandra) Yanik of Owosso; sisters, Mary Lou (Jack) Riley of Paris, Tennessee and Sue (Mike) Small of Owosso; several nieces and nephews. Her love of the Bible and it's message, was instilled in her by her parents. This led Cherie to pursue a full time volunteer ministry teaching the Bible's message about Jehovah's Kingdom to many in the communities in and around where she resided. She was also an exceptionally capable wife, cook and homemaker, and especially cherished daughter, sister, and friend. Age 28, of Owosso, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2010, at Memorial Healthcare Center, after a courageous fight with cancer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at St. Paul Catholic Church, with Fr. John Fain officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery. Gary was born on June 11, 1982, to parents Gary L. Kanan and Diana L. (Dumond) Kanan. He was a graduate of Owosso High School, Class of 2001. He had a passion for sports, especially football, where he lettered 3 years. Gary also enjoyed golfing and playing cards with friends. He was an avid U of M fan, who loved to go to the Big House. Most of all, Gary loved to spend time with his family, making the arrangements for the family get-togethers and going Up North to fish at his grandparents. Gary worked several years at the family restaurant, Greg and Lou's. Gary is survived by his mother, Diana Kanan; father, Gary L. Kanan; brother, Matthew (Donna) Kanan; sisters, Erica Kanan, Emily Kanan and Sydney Kanan; grandparents, Louis Kanan and Don and Ruth Dumond; special uncles, Greg Kanan and Donny Dumond; special aunt, Lorri Gaudard; several aunts, uncles, cousins, a niece, a nephew, and loving family and friends. Age 79, of Owosso, passed away Friday August 27, 2010 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11am, Tuesday August 31, 2010 at St. Paul Catholic Church, with Fr. John Fain officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery. The family of Jane will receive family and friends on Monday from 2pm to 8pm with a Rosary being Prayed at 7pm. Jane was born March 11, 1931 in Owosso to Michael and Ann (Tyslicky) Mudar. She attended Owosso Schools. On April 27, 1957 she married Leo F. O'Dea at St. Paul Catholic Church in Owosso where she was an active member with the Daughters of Isabella and working on funeral lunch committees. Jane was a Homemaker taking care of her husband and children. She was a person who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life like reading, crossword puzzles and tending to her vegetable gardens. She is survived by her husband Leo and sons: Steve (Monica) O'Dea, Murphy (Goreti) O'Dea, Tom O'Dea and Sean O'Dea, Daughters: Mary (Carl) Sobel, Irene (Russell) Wendt, 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Age 95, of Henderson, went to be reunited with his wife, Anna on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Ovid Healthcare Center. Jerry was a retired dairy and cash crop farmer for seventy years, working on his farm. Funeral Services will be held 2 pm, Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Nelson-House Funeral Home, with Tom Bradley officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6 to 8 pm and on Saturday from 1 pm to 8 pm. Jerry was born on May 2, 1915 in Owosso, the son of John and Mary (Vostrizansky) Kasik. On April 10, 1937 he married Anna A. Hain in Corunna. She predeceased him in 2003. Farming was a huge part of Jerry's life and he was an avid collector of tractors, from toys to the old antique tractors, mainly John Deere. He enjoyed reading books on tractors and history. He was a member of the ZCBJ, Lodge Owosso #242 for over seventy-five years. His family was his life and he enjoyed every moment spent with them. Survivors include his children, Jerry L. (Carolyn) Kasik, Don (Beverly) Kasik, Diane (Tom) Bradley and Kevin (Marian) Kasik; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Anna; two brothers, John and Frank Kasik; and two sisters, Mary and Agnes Kasik. Age 88, of Owosso, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Memorial Healthcare. Alice retired from the bookkeeping department at Sobak's. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 am, Saturday, August 28, 2010 at St. Paul Catholic Church, with Fr. John Fain and Fr. Gary McGinnis concelebrating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 pm. Alice was born on January 29, 1922 in Flint, the daughter of Jerome and Christine (Mier) Hamblin. She graduated from Flint Northern High School and the Business School at Baker College in Flint. She proudly served in the Women's Marine Corps as a Sergeant, during World War II, in the disbursing office. On June 1, 1946, she married William Haber at the Sacred Heart in Flint. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, the Owosso V.F.W. Auxiliary #9455, the American Legion Auxiliary Post 57, and was a life-time member of the Marine Corp League, Harold R. Cooley Detachment 841. She was also a member of the St. Paul Altar Society, the St. Jude's Guild Bible Study, a charter member of Women in Military Service of America and Living History at Baker College. She served as a member of the Michigan Club of Gulf Shores, Scarlet Snowbirds Red Hat Club of Michigan and actively worked on funeral dinners at church. She was a Respite volunteer, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and loved attending her grandchildren's sporting events. She was always up for a good game of Scrabble. Age 86, formerly of Hale, MI, now Owosso, passed away Saturday, August 21, 2010. He was born April 19, 1924 in New Haven Township, on the family farm, to John and Clara (Mead) Moore. He married Maxine E. Hayt on June 2, 1945. Red enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially spending time with his family. He belonged to the Central Michigan Old Car Club, The Sixty Lakes Association and The Retreads Motorcycle Association in years past. Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Russell, Harold and Lyle; and sisters, Marie and Arlene. Age 42, of Owosso, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2010 at her residence. Jane was born on December 1, 1967 in Owosso, the daughter of James Donaldson and Donna Chanda. She attended Owosso schools. Jane was a fun-loving person who was a caregiver for her mother. She loved spending time with her children and granddaughter. Survivors include four sons, Wesly Beckman of Arizona, Justen, Zachary and Jacob Zemla, all of the Owosso area; granddaughter, Cailyn; her parents; both grandfathers, Bill Chanda of Owosso and Bill Donaldson of Florida; step-children, Kelly and David Green; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Age 75, of Owosso, passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at his residence. Charlie retired after thirty-eight years as an engineer for the Ann Arbor and Tuscola Saginaw Bay Railroads. Funeral Services will be held 11 am, Saturday, August 28, 2010, at Nelson-House Funeral Home, with Pastor John Walworth officiating. Charlie was born on June 6, 1935 in Ashley, MI, the son of Lester and Beatrice (Smith) Lumbert. He graduated from Ashley High School. After graduating he served in the United States Navy for four years serving on the submarine, the USS Ray. On October 1, 1979 he married Patricia A. (Kooi) Springsdorf. He enjoyed RV Camping and mushrooming in Northern Michigan. He was very handy and enjoyed working anything mechanical. After retirement, he ran many excursion trains for the TSBY and he volunteered for the Steam Railroading Institute by operating the steam engine 1225 on several occasions. Survivors include his wife, Patricia; son, Bryan Lumbert; step-sons, Steve (Judy) Springsdorf, Tom (Shelley) Springsdorf, Bob (Kim) Springsdorf and Brian (Tam) Springsdorf; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Joan Peters, Marilyn Paterson, Janet (Jerry) Vanek and Jackie (Tad) Muscott; and brother-in-law, Russ Peters. Age 79, of Corunna, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Ingham Regional Medical Center in Lansing. Richard retired from Michigan Brick in 1997 after thirty-six years of service. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Sunday, August 22, 2010 from 2 to 8 pm, with the family present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Richard was born on June 14, 1931 in Corunna, the son of Jerome and Ethel (Ferris) Brothers. On February 23, 1951, he married Mary Jane Farnham in Corunna. He attended the Juddville United Methodist Church. He raised pygmy goats and was an avid collector of John Deer tractors and memorabilia. He had a passion for wood-working and had built many bird houses, cupboards, tables and doodle bug tractors. He especially loved spending time with his family, friends and his dog, Teaki. Age 94, of Corunna, passed away Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Country View Assisted Living. A Memorial Service will be held 6 pm, Monday, August 16, 2010 at Nelson-House Funeral Home. Elaine was born on April 17, 1916 in Middleton, the daughter of Julius and Lera (Stevens) Ceasar. On November 15, 1934 she married Harold Mulholland. He predeceased her in 1940. She married Wilbert G. Bush in Lansing on May 17, 1947, and he predeceased her in 1986. She was a member of the Owosso Seventh-Day Adventist Church for over seventy years, and was very active with the PathFinders, where she was a Master Scout for over twenty-five years. She loved to garden and putting together flower arrangements, and especially loved her irises. She was a social person and enjoyed traveling. Survivors include her children, Ann E. (Joseph) Stolz, Wesley (Cheryl) Bush and Kathleen L. (W. Douglas) Kolmodin; grandchildren, Jeanette Morecroft, Sara Stolz, Angela Knight, Pamela Knowlton, Wendy Goudy, Jean Hamman, Dr. W. Mary was born on August 19, 1942 in Bowling Green, Ohio, the daughter of Sidney and Esther (Dart) Curtis. She graduated from High School in Ohio. On June 1, 1974, she married Harold Selbig in Toledo, Ohio. He predeceased her in 1982. She was a loving mother and grandmother and loved being with her family. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, camping, swimming, shopping, and playing games, including Bingo. Survivors include children; John Wayne Patton, Jr. of Owosso, Leilla C. Patton (fiance, Greg Estrada) of Owosso, Ted (Chris) Selbig of Owosso, Jody (Mike) Bonomo of Gladwin, Sue (Roger) Stone of Owosso, Tim (Jackie) Selbig of Harrison, and Steve Selbig of Owosso. Age 52, of Owosso, passed away Friday, August 6, 2010 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Jack worked for Research Tools in Ovid since 1992. Jack was born on March 29, 1958 in Peru, Indiana, the son of Clyde and Mary Alice (Sartin) Hughes. He graduated from Maconaquah High School in 1977. He served in the United States Army from 1980 to 1988. On August 20, 1983 he married Mary Maria Sereseroz in Owosso. He enjoyed camping and loved to cook. He was an avid NASCAR fan, with #24 being his favorite driver. He is survived by his wife, Maria; sons, Matthew, Jacob (Stephanie Snyder) and Jackie; twin daughters, Sabrina and Salena; seven sisters, Sue Warth, Alice Jane VanCamp, Elizabeth Scaro, Sharon Crabtree, Sarah Mensing, Lana Green and Jovanna Weeks; six brothers, Clyde Richard Hughes, James R. Age 85, of Durand, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2010 at the Lodge of Durand. Alice was born on October 1, 1924 in Lansing, the daughter of Elmo Maatsch and Alexandria (Gabler) Williams. On March 31, 1951 she married John W. Dann in Owosso. She enjoyed working on crafts, such as weaving and making things out of seashells. She loved to garden and took great care in flower arranging and tending to her shrubs. She had a special place in her heart for abandoned cats and dogs. Survivors include her husband, John; sons, Dennis (Silvana) Dann, Duane Dann and David (Lin) Dann; grandchildren, John, Christopher, Eric, Jordan, Connor, Matthew (Jennifer) and Renee (Aaron); great-grandchildren, Breanna, Rae and Reese; and aunt, Lucy Couture. Age 80, of Owosso, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2010. There will be no Funeral Services. Tom was born on May 23, 1930 in Saginaw, the son of George and Anna Trinklein. Tom married Dorothy Trinklein in Freeland on February 25, 1950. They were married for sixty years, until Dorothy's passing June 2, 2010. Age 87, of Corunna, went to be reunited with his wife in Heaven on
Friday, July 30, 2010, at Memorial Healthcare. Lebor retired from General Motors Buick Motor Division as a semi-truck
driver in 1975, after thirty years of service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 am, Tuesday, August 3, 2010
at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.

from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. A Rosary will be prayed at 6 pm. Lebor was born on March 20, 1923 in Durand, the son of Victor and Frances
(Varga) Mitosinka. He attended the Venice Center School. On January 20, 1945, he married Helen A. Pavlica at St. Mary's Catholic
Church in Morrice. She predeceased him on February 19, 2009. He was
a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for over seventy-five years.
He also belonged to the UAW, Local 599, and the Jednota Branch 756.
His life was gardening and helping on the family farm. Along with his
wife, he was active with the Owosso Farmer's Market. Lebor enjoyed listening
to WOES and their polka music and going dancing with his wife, Helen.
He was an active bird watcher, especially enjoying the mourning doves,
with his faithful dog and companion, Millie. Survivors include his daughters, Mary Mitosinka and Rose (Dave) Harvey;
son, John (Peggy) Mitosinka, all of Corunna; five grandchildren, Chad
(Karen) Harvey, Nathan Harvey, Michael (Kim) Mitosinka, Amy (Ryon) Birchmeier
and Teri Mitosinka; four great-grandchildren, Angel, Lauryn, Madison
and Kelsi; brothers, Joseph Mitosinka and Anthony (Joan) Mitosinka;
and many nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends.

Jacqueline (Jackie) Jeanne Geraci
Jackie was brought into this life on March 26, 1958 in Youngstown,
Ohio, the daughter of Arthur and Barbara (Goodrow) Huff. She graduated
from Clio High School with the class of 1976. Throughout her life, no matter where God took her, she touched the
lives of those around her. She was mom to the young single sailor, a
sister to her fellow Navy spouses, a beacon to the lost, and a pillar
of strength to anyone who needed her. As the years passed, she renewed
her faith in God and dedicated herself again to His word. In this she
was able to touch even more lives. To know her was to love her, and know that you were loved in return. The testament to this lives on everyday in those who are privileged to call her Friend, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Grandma, Mom, and Wife. These were the titles she cherished and these are her legacy. Age 82, of Owosso, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2010 at the Shiawassee County Medical Care Facility. Dee worked for Prudential selling life insurance and then selling real estate, starting with Al Kelso Real Estate and over the years working with LeValley, Selleck's and ReMax. In his earlier years, he worked in construction and for the Ann Arbor Car Ferry. Dee was born on March 16, 1928 in Elberta, Michigan, the son of Roland and Karine (Elliott) Sanford. He attended Owosso High School. He served in the United States Merchant Marine and Army Air Corps., as a tele-communications operator on a B-25, during World War II. On May 28, 1949, he married Barbara Jean Woodworth in Angola, Indiana. He was a member of Grace Bible Church and the Gideons. He served actively on the Shiawassee County Prayer Breakfast Committee and with the jail ministries for many years. He belonged to the Y.M.C.A. and was an avid participant in the Michigan State Senior Olympics, where he was a pole-vaulting champion and taught many children over the years the art of pole-vaulting. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; children, Debra Jean (Greg) Tobey, Darrill Elliott Sanford and Chuck (Gale) Sanford; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Owen Sanford; sister, Catherine Smith; several nieces and nephews; and many other loving family members and friends. Henry. He graduated from Owosso High School, class of 1970. Craig graduated
Magna Cum Laude in 1974 from Michigan State University, Eli Broad School
of Craig began his professional career as a Certified Public Accountant for Arthur Andersen, Public Accounting Firm, Detriot's office . He was the senior accountant for such clients as Consumer's Energy and Dow Chemical. In 1979 he joined his father Norman in business to assist in the operation and management of Valley Lumber and Norm Henry Shoes. In 1994 he joined the management consulting firm of George S. May International of Chicago where he was employed as a Senior Project Manager. In 1999 Craig began his own business, Quantum Financial, specializing in consulting and business turnarounds, servicing clients throughout the Midwest and Eastern seaboard. Craig was widely respected by his clients, all who will miss his financial expertise and keen sense of business. Craig was a member of the National Association of Accountants, MSU Alumni Association, Owosso Rotary Club, member of the Owosso Country Club, former Board Member of the Shiawassee YMCA and league chairman of YMCA/Rotary youth soccer league. Craig was a member of First Congregational Church, having served faithfully as a deacon. He loved and enjoyed many aspects of life, skiing out west and at Boyne Mountain, boating and water skiing at the family's cottage on Lake Fenton, playing tennis, MSU sports and traveling with his family. Craig was a courageous man who after being diagnosed with multiple
sclerosis in 1994 continued to fight the good fight, never giving into
his illness, working diligently for his clients and providing for his
family. Craig is lovingly survived by his wife of 34 years, Deborah; his five
children, Ryan (Kelly) Henry of East Lansing, MI, Jeffrey Henry of Chicago,
IL, Kyle Henry of Royal Oak, MI, Diana Henry of East Lansing, MI, and
Jenna Henry, who will be a junior at Owosso High School; grandson, Caleb;
and granddaughter, Abigail of East Lansing. He is also survived by his
mother, Rosalyn Henry of Owosso; his two sisters, Carla (John) Merrill
and Cheryl (John) Downing; brother, Chris (Linda) Henry; sisters-in-law,
Jeaneen (Joe) Stephansky, Karyl (Edward) Zurick; brother-in-law, Nicholas
Casper; nephews, Michael and Jonathon Selleck, Emilio (Karri) Porco,
Matthew (Kim) Porco; and nieces, Joanna (Barrett) McCree and Paige Merrill.
He was predeceased by his father, Norman Henry; and both maternal and
paternal grandparents. Craig was aN inspiration to his many professional clients and friends,
but mostly to his children and wife Deborah. He never complained about
his illness, or disability, instead he referred to his affliction with
Multiple Sclerosis as an "ability", to strive and work even
harder and to never give up in the face of adversity. In honor of Craig, memorials may be made to an educational fund for

She graduated from Morrice High School and the Owosso Business Institute. She married Shiawassee County Deputy Sheriff, James Carmody, Jr. on May 15, 1954, at St. Paul's Catholic Church. Jim passed away in 1987. Patt began working for Shiawassee County on November 10, 1947, in Probate Court, for the Honorable Roy D. Matthews. She was appointed Probate Registrar in 1949 and served in the capacity until 1956, when she left the workforce to raise her family. During her tenure away from the court, Patt continued to practice her profession on a freelance basis. She returned to Shiawassee County in 1979 as Circuit Court Stenographer for Honorable Peter J. Marutiak and on October 26, 1979, was appointed by former Governor, William Milliken, as Official Court Stenographer for the 35th Circuit Court. Patt has served as Stenographer for the Honorable Gerald Lostracco since 1985. She was a longtime member of the National Court Reporters Association and the Michigan Association of Professional Court Reporters. She has been awarded the "Gold Notes Award" from the Michigan Association of Professional Court Reporters in recognition of twenty years of service and the "Gold Notes Award" by the National Court Reporters Association, in recognition of over fifty years for "dedicated services to the court reporting profession". She has also been recognized as Professional Secretaries International Secretary of the Year in 1983 and was the 1995 Liberty Bell Award recipient of the Shiawassee Bar Association. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren. She loved traveling, especially to Alaska. She always looked forward to wintering in Florida. She was the type of person who was always there when she was needed and often shared her faith. Age 81, of Owosso, fought a courageous battle with cancer and has now made his way to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, July 10, 2010. Lucille was born on April 9, 1908 in Chesaning, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Smith) Hollerback. She graduated from Chesaning High School in 1926 and attended State Normal School in Ypsilanti, Michigan, where she received her Life Teaching Certificate. She taught school for forty-two years. In the early years she taught in one-room country schools, eventually joining the staff at Central Elementary School in Owosso, until her retirement in 1973. Lucille's love of learning and her devotion to teaching touched the lives of hundreds of children during her long career. On June 22, 1931, Lucille married Francis D. McCaffrey in Chesaning. He predeceased her on November 22, 1987. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, the St. Anne Guild and the K of C Auxiliary. She was very active with various other groups and organizations, including the Shiawassee Council on Aging, Shiawassee Arts Council, YWCA, Memorial Healthcare Auxiliary, Chesaning Historical Society, Owosso Historical Society and the Garden Club. She also volunteered her time for the 4-H in both Shiawassee and Saginaw Counties. She worked and exhibited at the Shiawassee County Fair for fifty years, winning many ribbons. She enjoyed gardening, scrap booking, tatting and quilting. Survivors include her daughters, Patricia (the late Arthur) Eickholt of Owosso and Louise (Dr. Franklin) Cordell of Greeley, Colorado; four grandchildren, Michele (Dr. Lee) Green, Charlene Eickholt, Gregory (Susan) Eickholt, Franklin (Leslie) Cordell; great-grandchildren, Kyle and Nora Green, Bethany, Nathan, Rachel and Joseph Wolfe, Adeline and Thomas Eickholt, Ryan and Kevin Eickholt and Catherine Cordell; and one great-great-grandchild, Lila Wolfe. Age 83, of Owosso, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at the Chesaning Nursing Care Center.
Jimmy retired from Woodard's where he worked as a press operator. Per Jimmy's wishes cremation has taken place. He was born on September 24, 1926 in Glasgow, Scotland, the son of Robert and Annie Gilroy. He fought in the Brittish Army. He married Helen Houston in 1953. He was a member of the Dog & Gun Club, enjoyed golfing and was also a Mason.

Age 92, of Owosso, passed away Sunday, July 4, 2010 at Shiawassee County Medical Care Facility. Henry retired from General Motors after forty-four years as a die maker. Funeral Services will be held 11 am, Friday, July 9, 2010 at Nelson-House Funeral Home, with Pastor David Woodby officiating. Burial will follow at Yerian Cemetery in Durand. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 to 8 pm. Henry was born on January 28, 1918 in Ann Arbor, the son of John and Mary (Vykydal) Vyskocil. He served in the United States Army during World War II. On February 3, 1954 he married Jessie Earney. He was a member of the Shiawassee Conservation Club, the Corunna VFW and the NRA. In his earlier years he was an avid hunter and fisherman and he enjoyed collecting vintage guns. Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Jessie; daughters, Debra (Randy) Plutko and Vikki (Bob) Hass; daughter-in-law, Carrie; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Porterfield; many nieces and nephews and other loving family members and friends. Age 81, of Laingsburg, passed away Sunday, July 4, 2010 at Shiawassee County Medical Care Facility. Robert worked as a contractor and carpenter for fifty-five years. He was a teacher and instructor for building trade for Corunna High School, building the rest rooms on Nick Annese Field and many houses, teaching students how to build and then selling them to the public. He also worked on numerous volunteer projects for the community. Funeral Services will be held 11 am, Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Nelson-House Funeral Home, with Pastor John Walworth officiating. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm and on Wednesday from 12 noon to 8 pm. Robert was born on July 17, 1928 in Flint, the son of Ira Guy and Eugenia (Wright) Davis. As a youth in the Kingston area, he learned to farm using horses and mules, plowing and planting crops. Later moving to Corunna, he helped his brother and father on Green Valley Farm, south of Corunna. He attended school in Kingston, and served in the United State Air Force as a firefighter in Nome Alaska. He was charged with guarding fresh gold coming to the states. On October 3, 1953 he married Shirley Lucille Lawcock in Corunna. He was a member of the Family Christian Church of Perry and was a 32nd Degree Mason in Nome Alaska. Survivors include his wife, Shirley; children, Vickie Cardy of Laingsburg, James (Karen) Davis of Lennon, Donald (Carlene) Davis of Harrison, Connie (Thomas) Welden of Corunna and Bobbie Jo (Damon) Vaudrin of Vacavill, California; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; step-sister, Chris (Jim) Keys; sisters-in-law, Shirley Davis, Caroline (Maurice) Scanlon and Laura Lawcock; brothers-in-law, Basil Vincent, George (Sharon) Lawcock and Eugene Lawcock; lifetime friends, John and Betty Sebesta, Gladys Vibbert and Chuck and Myrtie Holland; and numerous nieces and nephews, who always called him "Chicky Bob". Anthe Sarris Capitan
Anthe Capitan was born Chrysoula Sarris in Kalamata, Greece, November 18, 1910, and died Friday, June 25, 2010 at the Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in St. Simons Island, Georgia, at the age of 99. Mrs. Capitan was the widow of Harry Capitan, founder of Capitan's Sugar Bowl, a long-standing landmark in Owosso, Michigan, established in 1900, at 205 N. Washington Street. She lived on Main Street in Owosso, their family home for over fifty years, and was actively involved in the family businesses. She was also a resident of Mentor, Ohio for 22 years. She frequently stated with pride that she raised two fine sons, James and William, but she always said her greatest gift was United States citizenship. She was characteristically patriotic, and World War II had a formative influence on her. Her favorite song all her life was "God Bless America," which during the war, was sung at the close of the radio broadcast day throughout the country. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Well into her nineties she enjoyed the company of friends, doing ceramics and painting. She lived a life of devotion to God through deep compassion and service to neighbors and family. She is survived by son, James H. Capitan and his wife, Christine; son, William H. Capitan and his wife, Dolores; seven grandchildren, Anthe Capitan-Valais, Perry Capitan, Rita Spalding, Ned Capitan, Kelly Jones, Andy Yoder, and Bradley Yoder; seven great-grandchildren, Charlie, William and Benedict Spalding, Chancellor Buerstatte, Athena Agiris, Dianna Rambo and Elizabeth Edson; and nephews, James P. Capitan and George Capitan; and many other loving family members. The family will receive visitors from 4 to 8 pm, Friday, July 2, 2010 at Nelson-House Funeral Home. Father Angelo Maggo, of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Flint, Michigan, will conduct a prayer service at Nelson-House Funeral Home beginning at 7 pm. Age 87, formerly of Owosso, passed away Wednesday June 30, 2010 at St. Anne's Mead Care Facility in Southfield, Michigan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 am, Friday, July 2, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Fr. David Fisher officiating. Visitation at Nelson-House Funeral Home will be on Friday from 9-10:30 am, preceding the mass. Burial will take place at St. Paul Cemetery. Mildred was born February 7, 1923 on her parent's farm near Ashley, Michigan, the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth Kurivial. On May 6, 1944 she married Frank Nechal in Owosso. He died May 10, 2005. Mrs. Nechal, along with her husband, were founding members of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She has been a member of the Z.C.B.J since her youth. While primarily a life long home maker, Mildred also worked as "Rosie the Riveter" making airplane carburetors at Bendix manufacturing plant in Owosso during the Second World War. In her retirement years in the Owosso area she enjoyed volunteering at the VFW and St. Joseph Church. Survivors include her 3 sons, Robert (Carolyn) Nechal, of St. Paul,

Age 44, of Owosso, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2010 at his residence. Bryan worked for SL & H Construction, building bridges, where he was a Foreman for several years and recently became Superintendent. Bryan was born on February 1, 1966 in Owosso, the son of Vernon and Beatrice (Luft) Jackson. He graduated from Owosso High School with the class of 1984. On September 8, 1990 he married Kelly Ardelean. He was a loving husband and family man. They would have celebrated their twentieth anniversary this fall. Bryan was the proud father of two sons, Jared and Nick. The three of them shared a love for hunting, fishing and golf. Bryan loved the outdoors and tractors. Collecting tractors was his passion. Boyne was a favorite vacation spot for skiing and golfing. He loved life and spending time with his family and friends. Age 84, of Owosso, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Oliver Woods Retirement Village in Owosso, MI. A Memorial Mass will be held 11 am, Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be held at St. Paul Cemetery. Visitation at Nelson-House Funeral Home will be on Monday from 2 to 8 pm, with the family present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. A Rosary will be prayed Monday evening at 6 pm. Mary was born on December 16, 1925, in the Slovak Republic, the daughter of Michael and Mary (Hudac) Majzel. It was 1929 when Mary moved from Detroit with her family to a farm in New Haven Twp., in Shiawassee County; the humble beginning of Majzel Farms. Mary attended schools in the county and has resided here the remainder of her life. On August 31, 1946 she married Frank Oswald at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Owosso. They have been very active members at St. Joseph's Church. Mary worked for Bendix and 25 years at Universal Electric. She did volunteer work for the Red Cross Blood Mobile for over 15 years. She enjoyed working on crafts and her favorite was needle point. Mary enjoyed camping and visited most of the states in the U.S., with a special trip to Europe in 1973. Survivors include husband, Frank; one son, William A. Oswald of Clio; two brothers, Michael Jr. (Martha) Majzel of Henderson, Joseph (Deanna) Majzel of California; one sister, Ann Clark of California; and many nieces and nephews.
