Barbara Jean Macklin

Age 81 of Corunna passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at McLaren Hospital in Flint.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Dieudonne Ntakarutimana officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 14 at Nelson-House Funeral Home in Owosso from 4:00 to 8:00pm with a Scripture Service at 7:00pm.

Barbara was born on April 4, 1935 to Albert and Rose (Newvine) Bennett in Saginaw. She married Leslie R. Macklin on May 22, 1954; they celebrated 48 years of marriage before he predeceased her in 2003. Barbara worked for A.O. Smith, retiring in 2000.

During her life, Barbara enjoyed cooking, planting flowers, and canning vegetables from her garden. She also enjoyed listening and dancing to Polka music. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, and she always looked forward to family gatherings where she cooked fried chicken dinners. She was involved with the VFW Auxiliary in Owosso, and she was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Barbara is survived by her 2 sons, Ricke Macklin and Joe Macklin; her 2 daughters, Shirley Tribfelner and Julia (Lon) Zimmerman; her 6 grandchildren, Tammy Cromwell, John (Heidi) Tribfelner, Matthew (Charlotte) Tribfelner, and Jaron, Danen, and Jayce Zimmerman; 6 great-grandchildren; her brother, Frank (Terrie) Bennett; her sister, Verna Osika; her sister-in-law, Wannel Bennett; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.
She is predeceased by her husband, Leslie; her parents; her brother, James Bennett; and her brother-in-law, Steve Osika.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
