Betty Jane Matthews

Age 93 of Owosso, passed away Monday June 11, 2018 at Memorial Healthcare.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Friday June 15, 2018 at Nelson-House Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Prince officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday June 14 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of service.

Betty was born October 2, 1924 in Owosso, the daughter of Charles and Bessie (Parker) Ordway.

She married Leonard C. Matthews in Owosso on August 23, 1941; he predeceased her on January 13, 1992.

Betty was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, volunteered at the Red Cross and spent time at the Shiawassee Council on Aging. She enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, taking trips to the casino and traveling with the Golden Agers. Betty loved spending time with her family, especially at Silver Lake Sand Dunes and was a fan of the Detroit Tigers.

She is survived by her loving family and friends.

Betty was predeceased by her husband; her children Linda (Ed) Neff, Leonard C. "Butch" Matthews Jr., Kenneth Matthews and Kathy Turk; her parents; her siblings Kenneth Ordway, Katherine Reese, Russell Ordway, Doris Schad, Phebee Ordway and Lorretta Herrick.
