Edward John “Jack” Symons, Jr.
Age 72 of Maple Grove Township unexpectedly passed away the afternoon of Friday, February 3, 2017.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church of Maple Grove with Fr. John Cotter officiating. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Homes Martin Chapel on Monday, February 6 from 1:00 to 8:00pm with a Vigil held at 7:00pm and a Rosary prayed at 8:00pm.
Jack Symons was born on August 17, 1944 to Edward John Symons Sr. and Ann (Arnold) Symons in Saginaw; he was the eldest of three brothers. He graduated from St. Peter & Paul High School of Saginaw in 1962.
On September 18, 1965, Jack married Mary Ellen Quaderer, daughter of Louis John and Olive (Indlekofer) Quaderer, at St. Michael's Catholic Church of Maple Grove. Soon after, Jack and Mary Ellen settled in Maple Grove where they raised their four children, had five grandchildren, and operated the Quaderer family farmstead. Jack was a lifelong farmer, and he also worked at GM for 30 years. During his life, he loved supporting his grandchildren at their sporting events and spending time with his family.
Jack is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen (Quaderer) Symons; his 4 children, John Symons, Robert (Teri) Symons, Daniel Symons, and Barbara (Jerrod) Rodriguez; his 5 grandchildren, Cody Symons, Caleb Symons, Cooper Symons, Colton Symons, and Sydney Rodriguez; his brother, David (Meri) Symons; his sisters-in-law, Dolores (Floyd) Maday, Eloise (Robert) Anderson, Patricia Quaderer, and Sally Quaderer; and his brothers-in-law, Louis (Nancy) Quaderer, Thomas (Sue) Quaderer, Rolan (Alice) Birchmeier, and Bernard Maday.
He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Ann Symons Sr.; his brother, Charles (Carol) Symons; his sisters-in-law, Rita (Leonard) Trepkowski, Joan Birchmeier, Evelyn (Edward) Maday, Helena Maday and Christina Littlejohn; and his brothers-in-law, James Quaderer and Charles Quaderer.
Memorial contributions are suggested to New Lothrop Wrestling or the Saginaw County Fair.
