Gerald Edward Smith

Age 74 of Owosso, formerly of Whittemore/Prescott area, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Memorial Healthcare surrounded by family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30pm Saturday, August 25, 2018 at the Owosso VFW where military honors will be rendered.

Gerald was born February 7, 1944 in Flint; the son of Wilbur and Ethel (Gage) Smith.

He graduated from Flint Northern High School.

Gerald proudly served his country in the United States Army in Vietnam and was a proud Vietnam Veteran.

He married the love of his life, Lynn Ellen Brown in 1972 in Flint; she preceded him in death in 1998.

Gerald enjoyed building street cars, hot rods and loved working in auto body repair. He looked forward to spending time with his grandchildren and gardening. Gerald was well known for his famous chili and chopping wood for the winter.

Gerald is survived by his children Keith (Angela) Smith and Mary Smith; grandchildren Dominic Smith, Cydnee Lynn Ellen Smith, Aidyn Smith and Alexandria Smith; sister Sandy Wilson; nephews Michael Wilson and Russel Wilson; niece Angie Wilson; several great nephews and nieces; his lifelong and precious friend Donna Kohout and many other loving family and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the family to be divided between his grandchildren and the VFW.
