Obituary for Joachim "Joe" Hippe

Joachim (Joe) Hippe

Joachim (Joe) Hippe, age 93, passed away February 15, 2018 at his residence.

Joachim was born October 19, 1924 in Sommerda, Germany, the son of Willy and Martha Hippe.

He married Anneliese Albrecht in Bad Wildungen, Germany on August 26, 1947. Joachim and Anneliese immigrated to the United States in 1957, becoming residents of Owosso and members of the First Baptist Church.

Throughout the years, Joachim was employed by the First Baptist Church, White’s Bakery, Midland Ross, Shiawassee County Credit Union, the First Congregational Church, the Law Office of Gerald Stevens, The First Church of Christ and St. Paul’s Catholic Church, all in Owosso. He often spoke of how proud he was of his daughters and faithfully attended all of their band concerts, dance and piano recitals. An admirer of God’s beautiful creation, Joe loved watching the various wildlife that frequented his well-tended yard. He also enjoyed fishing in Canada with friends.

Joachim was preceded in death by his wife Anneliese; brothers Wolfram and Willy and his father and mother.

He is survived by his three daughters Regina (Brad), Andrea (Nathan) and Birgit (Paul); four grandchildren, Bradly, Katja, Christopher and Andrew; brother Horst; sisters Ruth (Paul) and Karin; nieces Kerstein, Marion and Connie, and many other loving family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Owosso Owl's Nest and Memorial Healthcare Hospice for their loving care and tremendous support.

A memorial service for the family will be planned for a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to Respite Volunteers of Shiawassee.
