John Wayne Luchenbill

Age 73 of Owosso passed away Friday, May 18, 2018 at Sparrow Health Systems.

A Celebration of Life will be held 2pm Sunday May 27, 2018 at the family's home. Military honors to be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan on 1pm Tuesday, May 29, 2018.

John was born September 16, 1944 in Lansing, Michigan; the son of Augustus and June Marie (Slingerland) Luchenbill. He grew up in Flint with his mother and step-father June and Glenn Robinson and graduated from Bendle High School in Burton, Michigan. John proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

John married Linda (Johnson) Thomas on July 2, 1977 at the Nazarene Church in Corunna.

He retired from General Motors - Buick City in Flint as a Machinist after 30 years.

John loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and river rafting. He loved to play golf and poker with the guys. John also enjoyed traveling and spending his Michigan winters in sunny Florida.

John is survived by his wife Linda; his children MaryAnn Gotts, Tim Thomas, Greg Thomas, Matt Thomas, Marie (Adam) Merkle, Traci (James) Ruffin, Melanie (Neil) Evans and Shawn Stover; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many other loving family and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers and two sisters.
