Obituary for Martha Jane Henley-Hagaman

Age 97 of Oakley passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Ashley Care Center.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Nelson-House Funeral Homes Martin Chapel in Chesaning, MI. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery on Chipman Rd. in Henderson. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 19 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, and also on Wednesday from 10:00am until the service.

Martha was born on February 2, 1920 to John H. and Effie Florence (Thompson) Boatman in Cookeville, Tennessee. She married Clyde Henley on July 11, 1939.  They  celebrated 58 years of marriage before he predeceased her in 1997. She then married Dexter Hagaman on March 16, 2000; he predeceased her in 2006.

Martha spent her life as a loving homemaker raising her two children. She also worked as a Dietary Consultant at Owosso Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Women's Christian Temperance Group.  She and Mr. Henley were members of Post Oak Church in Cookeville, TN and of the Church of Christ in Henderson, MI.   Martha and Mr. Hagaman attended Immanuel Bible Church in Saginaw. Martha was an avid reader, she loved country gospel music, and she loved going to jamborees. 

Martha is survived by her daughter, Linda Richardson-Belcher (Michael); her daughter-in-law, Norita Henley; her grandchildren, Vicki Merrill, Nancy (Leon) Flores, Michael (Jamie) Sleeseman, and Janelle (Lane) Wild; her great-grandchildren, Joey, Naomi, Malachi, Elisha, Saralyn, and Jenna; special nieces, Rita Sardo and Janice Simonic; special nephew, Gordon Stephens, as well as many other nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Clyde; her second husband, Dexter; her son, Roy Henley; her parents; her sisters, Eunetta (Boatman) Waites and Velma Marie (Boatman) Stephens; and her brother, Frank Frederick Boatman.
