Obituary for Raymond Swayze

Raymond L. Swayze

Age 80 of Owosso, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Sparrow Health System in Lansing.

Funeral services will be held 1pm Monday, February 6, 2017 at First Church of Christ, 585 East North Street, Owosso with Pastor Christopher Higgins officiating. Burial will follow at Easton Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Sunday from 2pm to 6pm.

Raymond was the son of the late Lloyd and Irene (Gardner) Swayze born in Holly, MI on November 29, 1936.

He graduated from Durand High School, class of 1955 . Raymond was a member of First Church of Christ where he was an Elder and attended Monday night bible study, taught Sunday School and youth meetings. Through the years he was a volunteer at Grace Bible church as well. Raymond was an EMT for Owosso Township and Twin Township and visited the shut ins. Raymond was a farmer and also worked as a foreman at the former Midwest Abrasive Co. After that company closed, he was a security guard at Baker College and for a time was the donut man at VG's, White's Bakery, Meijers and L&L.

He married Diane Spitler in Owosso on July 30, 1966.

Raymond is survived by his wife Diane; children Timothy (Barbie) Swayze and Paulette Swayze; grandchildren Shandi and Matthew Swayze and Rachelle Miller; sister Margaret (William) Sharrow, Elaine (Jack) Graham; brother Duane (Eloise) Swayze; nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.

He was predeceased by his daughter Suzette, son Matthew, brother Donald and sister Norma.
