Obituary for Rodney Allen Crandell

Age 69 of Owosso passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Chesaning Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Nelson-House Funeral Homes Martin Chapel with Ron Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Wildwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends that day from 10:00am until the service.

Rodney was born on January 29, 1948 to Allen and Helen (Hartman) Crandell in Chesaning. He graduated from Chesaning High School with the class of 1967. He married Carol Rood on January 18, 1969 in Oakley.

Rodney worked for AO Smith (Universal Electric) for 30 years before retiring in 2002. During his life, he loved being outdoors, camping, hunting, or fishing. He also enjoyed woodworking, photography, collecting baseball cards, and cheering on the Detroit Tigers. Above all, he loved being with his family, especially his grandkids.

Rodney is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carol Crandell; his sister, Janet Crandell; his daughters, Dawn (Chris) Brown and Tracy (Todd) Schneider; and his grandchildren, Erica VanBuren, Chelsea and Casey Brown, and Tiffanie and Trevor Schneider.

He is predeceased by his parents, Allen and Helen Crandell, and his granddaughter, Carolyne-Janice "CJ" Crandell.
