Obituary for Tad Taphouse

Tad Taphouse

Age 88 of Owosso passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Memorial Healthcare.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Friday, January 27, 2017 at Nelson-House Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Rudder officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Tad was born November 5, 1928 in Owosso, the son of Harold and Dora (Burwell) Taphouse.

He graduated from Owosso High School and served in the United States Army.

Tad was a past 4-H horse leader and ran the 4-H food stand for more than 20 years. He was an excellent craftsman and enjoyed working with his hands; especially woodworking. Tad proudly built his own home as well has many barns and decks.

He married Beverly Harris at Trinity United Methodist Church on August 13, 1955.

Tad was employed through the years as machine repair and maintenance at Universal Electric where he met his wife. He also worked at Midland Ross and retired from Motor Products.

Tad is survived by his wife Beverly; children Jeff (Kathy) Taphouse, Robert (Bethany) Taphouse, Timothy (Cindy) Taphouse, Todd (Inge) Taphouse and Shelly (Jason) Houska; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister Dora Marble; brother Donald Taphouse; many nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, sister Margaret Cech, brothers Harold, Robert, Walter and Charlie Taphouse.
