Duane G. Amos

Duane Glen Amos, 86, of Corunna, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at his home with his loving family by his side.

Funeral Services will be held 11am Monday September 17, 2018 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1209 Coutant Street Flushing with Pastor Cliff Bira officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Home, Owosso Chapel on Sunday September 16 from 2pm to 8pm and on Monday from 10am until the time of service at the church.

Duane was born November 3, 1931, in Lansing to Roland and Gladys (Gulick) Amos. After graduating in 1949 from Lansing Eastern High School, he spent a year in Topeka, Ind., as a blacksmith assistant to his grandfather. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served in the Korean War from 1950-1954 aboard the U.S.S. Ashtabula. Duane worked as an electrician for General Motors, Flint, for 42 years and was a proud member of the UAW.

On July 18, 1953, Duane was united in marriage with Carol Larson in Owosso. They were blessed with 46 years of marriage and seven children. Carol preceded him in death in 1999.

On March 24, 2001, Duane was united in marriage with Jan (Henny) Wyatt in Owosso. They were blessed with 17 years of marriage.

Duane served on various church and school boards. He was a founding member of the Shiawassee 4-H Dog program, serving both as a club leader and program superintendent. He enjoyed reading, camping, watching sports, and above all, spending time with his family, who is now comforted knowing he is at home with his Savior.

Duane is survived by his wife, Jan; children, Terri (James) Baur of Brainerd, Minn., Diahann (Glen) Lohr of Watertown, Wis., David (Lori) of Grand Blanc, Cheryl of Corunna, Rebecca (Jeff) Klarich of Darien, Wis., and Joel (Cindy) of Climax; step-children, Kristen (Jay Peters) Wyatt, Dale (Jennifer) Wyatt, Aaron (Jayme) Wyatt, Katie (Brandon) Bernier; grandchildren, Jennifer (Adam Vanden Heuvel) Lohr, Joshua (Katherine) Lohr, Jason (Jessica) Lohr, Ruth (John) Stefaniuk, Bethany (Tom) Barthel, Jonathan (Alice Ladrick) Lohr, Rebecca (Jack) Foster, Samuel Amos, Sarah Amos, Hannah Reynolds, Lauren Hamell, Peter Reynolds, Leah Hamell, Christopher Hamell, Cayla Hamell, Maggie Amos, Paige Amos, Jack Bernier, Anna Bernier, Olivia Bernier; and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Bruce Amos and Jerry (Elaine) Amos; sisters-in-law Judy (Arthur) Hackbarth and Ruth (Bill) Bierschbach; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol; son, Jon; grandson, Michael Baur; great-granddaughter, Nina Vanden Heuvel; and son-in-law William Wehling.

A very special thanks to Rhonda Rowell, Memorial Healthcare Hospice and all of Duane's caregivers. He was blessed with excellent care during his illness.
