Obituary for Lucille "Lulu" A. Thiede

Lucille Anne Martin Thiede was reunited with her Lord and dear husband, Raymond, on October 4th 2018. She would have celebrated her 101st. birthday on October 23rd.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on November 16th at St. Paul’s Church, in Owosso at 10:00am. This will be followed by lunch at the Comstock Inn with internment to follow.

She was predeceased by her husband Ray of 70 years, parents Christian and Barbara Martin, five sisters, one brother, andgreat grandson Miles Beaudoin.

Lucille graduated from Our Lady in Chesaning where she was involved in several high school drama productions. She played the trombone in a combined band with Chesaning High School.

After graduation she worked in Lansing for a pediatrician before marrying Ray on October 30, 1939.

In spite of being disabled with a spinal cord disease she led the life of a busy wife and mother. She gardened, canned, baked apple pies with fruit from Ray’s tree and made the best lemon meringue pie in Shiawassee County. She was an excellent seamstress making her daughters’ clothes through childhood and high school from school uniforms to prom dresses. She knitted afghans, made toys and Christmas ornaments with Ray for her family which are treasured. She helped with Brownies, and enjoyed going to athletic events to watch her daughters cheerlead and to chaperone their dances.

She was a member of St. Paul’s where she belonged to the Altar Society and St. Catherine’s Guild.

Summers were spent at Houghton Lake with family and friends makingmany happy memories of camp fires, and rousing games of setback.

She will be remembered with love by her family, daughter Susan (Roger) Bittell, grandsonAndrew(Sarah) Bittell, great grandchildren Madeline and Lucille, granddaughter Leslie (Kyle) Haver, great grandchildren Samson and Ruby Haver and by daughter Sally (Donald) Beaudoin, grandson Michael (Susan) Beaudoin, great grandchildren Ethan and Tristan, granddaughter Julie (Terry) Foster, great grandchild Hazel Foster, grandson Christopher (Traci) Beaudoin, great grandchildren Theodore and Truman,grandson Peter ( Lori) Beaudoin, and great grandchildren Scout and Logan.

The family would appreciate memorial contributions be made to Meals On wheels of Shiawassee County or Faith Hospice of Grand Rapids. Envelopes will be available in church and at the luncheon.
