Obituary for Marsha Lee Meeuwse-Hutson

Marsha Meeuwse-Hutson

On April 30th Marsha’s cancer was defeated by a knock-out blow. For on that day Marsha left her cancer here on earth while she went to live forever with her Heavenly Father in Heaven where cancer cannot ever hurt her again. At the age of 67, Marsha died peacefully at home surrounded by her family and many close friends.

Marsha was born March 5, 1952 in Detroit and at the young age of 2 years old moved with her parents Merle and Elaine (Cunningham) Burkheiser to the small city of Parchment, MI. near Kalamazoo. Marsha attended the Parchment School System and graduated from Parchment High School with the Class of 1972. After High School Marsha attended Nursing School in Kalamazoo and did an internship at Bronson Hospital.

Marsha worked various nursing positions throughout her career including at Memorial Healthcare Hospital and Home Care and Hospice as a Nurse, Volunteer Coordinator, and Parish Nurse Coordinator. Marsha then became the Administrator of Oliver Woods Assisted Living. She then retired from Nursing at the age of 60.

Marsha is a member of the First Congregational (UCC) Church in Owosso and also the First Presbyterian Church on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. She and her family wintered on Hilton Head Island for many years. Among other things Marsha served on the Board of Owosso Community Players and Respite of Shiawassee County. As a young woman Marsha served as a missionary for the Reformed Church of America in the hills of Kentucky. She loved to travel and she always looked forward to a “good party”. She loved to laugh and have a good time and her smile and her laugh were contagious. But most of all Marsha loved to spend time with her family at home, at her Lake House and at her special place in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Marsha was generous, sweet, kind, fun-filed and she had many special friends.
Marsha’s ready smile and good laugh will be missed by everyone.

Marsha is survived by her husband Rev. Ron Hutson, and her sons Christopher (Amanda) Meeuwse, Michael Meeuwse and Matthew Meeuwse, her grandson Bronson Meeuwse and granddaughter Savannah Meeuwse. Also surviving are her German sister Ricki Groth of Hamburg, Germany, her high school foreign exchange student who became a lifelong friend, and also lifelong friends Arleta and Roger Hommes from South Holland, Ill and many other loving family member and friends. We all love you, Marsha, and will miss you so much. May God keep you forever in the very palm of His hand.

Marsha is predeceased by her parents.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, May 4, 2019 at First Congregational Church with Pastor John Walworth officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Friday from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Memorial contributions are suggested to be given to Memorial Healthcare Hospice and/or Special Olympics Area 22.
