Obituary for Thomas "Tom" O. Klockziem

Thomas "Tom" Owen Klockziem

Age 76 of Owosso passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018 at his home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 am Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at St. Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Michael O'Brien officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a rosary prayed at 7pm.

Thomas was born September 5, 1941 in Owosso, the son of Robert L. and Agnes A. (Unterbrink) Klockziem.

He attended Laingsburg and Owosso Schools, graduated from Owosso High School, class of 1961 and was a life time member of the NRA. Tom was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed gardening and camping. He loved his family and especially loved hunting and fishing with them. He was always willing to drop whatever he was doing to help someone in need, and his family and grandchildren all think he is special. He had an awesome sense of humor and was not above a good practical joke! He was a brilliant handyman and had a MacGyver like knack of fixing anything that came his way. He had a fierce love of all children and would always take time to help make a child smile. Thomas enjoyed keeping his old suburban up and driving it around town.

He married Brooke P. Kirby in Corunna on December 15, 1962.

Tom was a hard worker and was employed in his early years with Morden's and Stechschulte's Dairy Routes and Gordon Graham's Flowers and Furniture Shop. In 1962 he went to work at General Motors in Lansing and retired in 1992 after 30 years of service. For more than 20 years Tom also worked at Nelson-House Funeral Homes where he was able to share his kind and caring personality. Tom was loved and respected by many and always had a good sense of humor, even during his long illness.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Brooke; daughter Teresa Klockziem (David Clark), son Scott (Christine) Klockziem; grandsons Adam (MacKenzie) Klockziem of Germany, Kurtis Klockziem of Roscommon, Owen and Drew Klockziem of Corunna; a great-grandson Mack Thomas Klockziem of Germany; brothers Charles (Barb) Klockziem and Phil (Debbie) Klockziem ; sisters Kristine Klockziem and Joan Klockziem (Jim Fox); sisters and brothers-in-law Pat and Darlene Klockziem and John (Sandy) Phillips; many nieces, nephews, special neighbors, friends, and the love of his life, his miniature beagle, Dora.

Tom was predeceased by parents, brothers Ronald and William, niece Rebecca Klockziem and nephew Eric Fox.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Paul Church.
