Obituary for Dolores Laura Collins

Dolores Laura Collins, 86, of Corunna, passed quietly at her home in the company of family.  She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Bernard (Sam) Collins, and survived by her children: Jim (Janet) of Charles Town, West Virginia, Larry (Katie) of Owosso, Dinah (Grant) Sutton of Grand Rapids and Chris (Barbara) of Swartz Creek, plus 8 Grandchildren and 7 Great-grandchildren.

Born to Duane and Ruth Tucker of rural Flushing, she married Sam in 1951 and together they began farm life near Juddville.  She took work outside the home after her children were all in school, and soon became secretary to the Superintendent of Corunna Public Schools, retiring in 1992 after 27 years of service.  After Sam's death in 2005, she moved into Corunna.

She and Sam were active members of the Great Lakes Beagle Club and the Owosso Circulators Square Dancing Club.  She enjoyed golfing and cross-stitching during her retirement.

She can be viewed at Nelson-House Funeral Home from 2-4 pm on Friday, March 16th.  She'll be buried next to Sam, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contribution to the Larry Clay Scholarship Fund, c/o Corunna Public Schools, 124 N. Shiawassee St., Corunna, MI. 48817.
